President’s Message

A message from temple president, Robin Bass

Welcome to Reform Temple of Putnam Valley. We are a small, friendly congregation in beautiful Putnam Valley. We offer many opportunities for individuals and families, from services and workshops to social events and social action. Our dues are very low compared to most congregations, and we want to keep it that way. However, that also means we depend on the generosity of our community and friends to help fill the gaps. Please consider making a donation to honor a lifecycle event, a loved one or as part of our annual giving.

Please mail your tax-deductible donation to:

August Month at a Glance

  • Tish B’Av (The 9th of Av) is August 2-3rd
    From Reform Judaism:
Tishah B’Av, observed on the 9th (tishah) of the Hebrew month of Av, is a day of mourning the destruction of both ancient Temples in Jerusalem. Liberal Judaism never has assigned a central religious role to the ancient Temple, so mourning the destruction of the Temple may not be particularly meaningful to liberal Jews. In modern times, many Jews understand Tishah B’Av as a day to remember many tragedies that have befallen the Jewish people throughout history, and to reflect on the suffering that still occurs in our world.
